The person credited with this unit standard is able to effectively identify repair requirements and carry these out safely and cost effectively.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying nature of damage.
  • Determining repair requirements.
  • Carrying out assembly repairs. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy equivalent to NQF level 3.
  • They will also have achieved, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence to, the National Certificate in Cabinet Making at NQF level 3.

    Potential cause of damage is reported to appropriate authority for action.

    Repair options and alternatives are identified and evaluated for feasibility according to organisational constraints and requirements.

    Repair requirement which provides optimum cost effective solution is identified and confirmed as required with relevant personnel.

    Repair information is accurately recorded onto appropriate documentation.

    Repairs are monitored for damage type, frequency, likely cause and production errors.

    Information to assist with quality assurance is provided to relevant personnel.

    Repair is effected safely and correctly to comply with quality, health and safety requirements.

    Correct tools and equipment for the repairs are used safely and correctly according to their identified use.

    Repair is carried out correctly and safely within the time allocated.
