PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to maintain effective working conditions by carrying out good housekeeping routines and complying with relevant housekeeping procedures.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Carrying out good housekeeping routines
  • Preparing workstation for safe and effective production
  • Complying with relevant housekeeping policies and procedures
  • Maintaining effective working conditions 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in basic numeracy and literacy equivalent to ABET Level 4. They will also have achieved, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence to, the National Certificate (GETC) in Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Activities, (Furniture).

    The importance of good housekeeping and the impact of poor housekeeping on people, processes, facilities and products are explained.

    All housekeeping policies and procedures impacting on the candidate's area of responsibility are complied with appropriately and timeously. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Any shortcomings in housekeeping practices are identified and reported to the appropriate authority.
