PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard is intended for people in quality assurance roles charged with evaluating (critiquing) standards used in education, training and development. The standards may be in various forms, including but not limited to unit standards, assessment standards, curriculum statements and qualifications.
People seeking credit for this unit standard could be staff of relevant quality assuring bodies or members of groups who have developed the standards and who undertake a quality check prior to submission for formal approval. The evaluation of the standards would take place against documented quality criteria prepared by an authorised, national, quality assurance body. People credited with this unit standard are able to: |

UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
1. Candidates are not expected to develop their own criteria or quality assurance tools and documents. It is assumed that national quality criteria and any associated quality documents/checklists are standardised and issued by the authorised, national, quality assurance body.
2. The evaluation should relate to the fitness-for-purpose of the standards for use on outcomes-based assessment and qualification systems. Key factors in the evaluation would be decisions related to: 3. For credit, a candidate must evaluate batches of at least five standards from at least two, different, subject areas, and at least one complete qualification. "Subject areas" could be, for example, subfields or domains (or similar classification categories) used in national qualification systems. "Different" requires the body's setting the standards to be different, or the writers of each batch of standards to be different people or groups. |
