PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard forms part of the qualification on Level 3 in the abattoir industry and is registered at NQF Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework. Learners working towards this standard will be learning towards the full qualifications; or will be involved in; or working within the abattoir industry. This unit standard provides the learner with competence in evaluating and monitoring the dressing process of carcasses to ensure optimal quality of end product. The acquisition of competence against the above standard will add value to the learner and the abattoir industry as a whole.

Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence against unit standards in mathematical, numerical and communication studies at NQF Level 3 or equivalent. In addition, the learner will have a general understanding of hygiene and safety procedures in an abattoir and an understanding of customer relationships. |
