This unit standard is intended for Supervisors and Team Leaders and learners involved in quality management in a business unit. The term business unit in this unit standard implies a small business, cost center, section or department.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Analysing the mechanisms used for quality management in a business unit.
  • Applying quality and control mechanisms in a business unit.
  • Reporting findings and giving feedback.
  • Recommending possible actions to improve quality and ensure compliance.

    An organisation's quality management policies are analysed and interpreted to determine mechanisms, procedures and practices used to manage quality in a specific business unit. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The reasons for the relevant quality management policies are explained with reference to the origin of the policies and the related business risk. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The role and responsibility of individuals in an organisation in applying and maintaining a policy are explained with examples.

    Mechanisms and measures used by an organisation to manage quality are identified and an indication is given of how each contributes to quality management.
