PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A person credited with this unit standard is able to demonstrate an understanding of the governance issues that affect clients in the private and public sectors. Learners are able to identify the structure applicable to governance within a specific organisations and the related role played by the governance

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and explaining legislation applicable to Governance in the Business environment, both Public and Private sectors
  • Identifying and explaining the governance structure applicable within a specific organisation
  • Relating the role played by the governance structures within an organisation
  • Comparing and explaining governance structures between Public and Private Sector organisations

    The roles and responsibilities associated with the respective governance structure is documented in written form, for a specific organisation

    The importance of compliance to governance structures within the organisation is explained with examples

    The potential penalties for non-conformance to governance structures is explained for a specific organisation in a presentation 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4 
    Compare and explain governance structures between Public and Private Sector organisations. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A comparative study is conducted and documented according to requirements between private and public sector organisations with a view to identifying general similarities and differences in their governance structures 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A study is conducted and documented in written form identifying the different structures within the public sector 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    A study is conducted and documented in accordance with requirements, into the barriers and facilitators of good governance in both private and public sector organisations 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The findings are presented according to instructions and requirements 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be conducted by the relevant ETQA according to the policies and guidelines foe assessment and moderation of that ETQA, at its discretion, in terms of agreements reached about assessment and moderation between various ETQA (including professional bodies.)
