PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The person credited with this unit standard is able to facilitate effective vehicle allocation and use in the public services sector of South Africa. This unit standard furthermore intends to empower individuals involved in these and related disciplines, to implement fundamental knowledge in their day-to-day activities and decision-making processes in the workplace.

Vehicle allocation refers to providing a vehicle from the pool on a trip-to-trip basis, allocating the vehicle permanently or for a lengthy period of time to a position/department, providing the assistance with the provisioning of a subsidy vehicle to an individual. |

The request for vehicle utilisation is to be analysed by ensuring correct information is provided by the customer so as to determine trip requirements. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 |
The type of vehicle for the trip is to be determined by providing examples of types of vehicles suitable for the specific trip. |
ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 |
The availability of the type of vehicle is to be determined by checking the stock levels and serviceability of pool vehicles. |
