PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for persons who conduct shore based fishing operations.

A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Identify and define commercial specie types.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of fishing grounds as per permit details.
  • Define hunting related operations.
  • Monitor performance of related fishing technology.

    Fishing grounds of types of catch available at each relevant to the sector are explained with examples.
