PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners who are entering the field of reinforced concrete dtailing draughting require this unit standard. This unit standard exposes learners to the basic commands needed to draw a 2D object. Qualifying will be able to draw and manipulate basic single component 2D drawing.
  • Understand reinforced concrete detailing.
  • Understand stair cases and produce detailed drawings.
  • Understand reinforcement, bar marks and bending schedules.
  • Understand columns and piles.
  • Understand floor slabs.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Communication, Mathematical Literacy and Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3.

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE
  • Reinforced concrete terms include web, flange, heel, toe, bar marks, up stand and down stand.
  • Beams will include up stand beams, down stand beams, and end wall beams.
  • Foundations include reinforced strip, pad, raft or slab.
  • Columns will include rectangular and round.

Different beam, slab and column configuration s are drawn.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3
Reinforcement in tension and compression is explained and cracking of concrete is prevented.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4
The different grades of steel use for reinforcing are explained.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5
The compressive strength of concrete is explained at required period/duration.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2
Detail and show beams, foundations and pile caps according to a specified requirement.
