PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to prepare and install concrete pavements bearing an imprinted design for architectural or residential purposes in areas where light traffic is experienced in accordance with the design and construction method specified in working drawings ensuring that National Building and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.

This competence complements the other masonry competencies and contributes to the development of a professional community of Masonry practitioners, who are able to use Science and Technology responsibly and cost-effectively. It should result in improved quality and service delivery in Masonry. The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key developmental interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved.
