PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This standard is aimed at people who work or intend to work within a large process operation in the chemical or similar industry, and seek recognition for skills essential for controlling such a process.
Those learners who acquire the outcomes of this standard will know about and be able to control the process within set parameters, pertaining to the chemical industry. For the purposes of this standard a process is understood to be a range of processes operated in an integrated manner to produce a product or products. The qualifying learner is able to: |

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS |
The relevant Educational Training Quality Assurance Body (ETQA), will accredit providers offering learning towards this standard and will register assessors. They will also appoint the internal and external moderators. |
UNIT STANDARD ESSENTIAL EMBEDDED KNOWLEDGE |
Critical Cross-field Outcomes (CCFO): |
UNIT STANDARD CCFO IDENTIFYING |
Identify and solve problems in which responses display that responsible decisions using critical and creative thinking have been made towards the control of a chemical process. |
UNIT STANDARD CCFO WORKING |
Work effectively with others as a member of a team and organisation to conduct control of the process activities and to communicate process conditions. |
UNIT STANDARD CCFO ORGANISING |
Organise and manage oneself and one`s activities responsibly and effectively, while controlling the process. |
UNIT STANDARD CCFO COMMUNICATING |
Communicate effectively using visual, mathematical and/or language skills in the modes of oral and/or written persuasion, with regards to reporting and recording of information and abnormal conditions during the control of the chemical process. |
UNIT STANDARD CCFO SCIENCE |
Use science and technology effectively and critically, showing responsibility towards the environment and health of others during controlling of the process. |
UNIT STANDARD CCFO DEMONSTRATING |
Demonstrating an understanding of the chemical process as a set or related systems by identifying the impact of abnormalities in one part of the system. |
UNIT STANDARD NOTES |
Instructions must be given in such a manner that the providers can reasonably meet the requests. |

PROVIDERS CURRENTLY ACCREDITED TO OFFER THIS UNIT STANDARD: |
This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here. |
