PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will demonstrate a broad understanding of general roofing practice including the selection and setting out of materials, tools and equipment, in line with safety legislation, and National Building Regulations and requirements, and based on specification drawings. The role of safety is crucial, and understanding the implications of drawing dimensions, and materials and equipment quality when faced with practical challenges are important factors when attaining the outcomes of this unit standard. Learners mostly apply competence under supervision of a team leader.
