PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
People in the field of manufacturing and engineering require the skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard.
The learning outcomes in this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for various manufacturing and engineering qualifications.
The learner is capable of removing, balancing, refitting wheels and identifying tyre and rim damage so that suspension and tyre damage is eliminated. This will contribute to the exit level outcomes required for the National Certificate in servicing vehicles and related qualifications. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
This unit standard has been designed as part of a progression. It is one of a series of unit standards for servicing vehicles in the field of manufacturing and engineering. It is assumed that the learner has already learned the process of workshop procedures, the use of hand tools, power tools and equipment and to maintain a safe and productive working environment.
