PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
People in the field of manufacturing and engineering require the skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard. The learning outcomes in this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for various manufacturing and engineering qualifications. The learner is capable to repair and assemble earthmoving equipment cylinder heads, inspect a cylinder head, to repair and report cylinder head faults, to assemble a cylinder head, to record findings and to submit a report. This will contribute to the exit level outcomes required for the National Certificate in maintaining vehicles and related qualifications.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
This unit standard is designed as part of a progression. The credits allocated to this unit standard assume that the learner is competent on the relevant unit standards at the lower level.
