PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for persons involved with public sector administration work at the practitioner level. Persons credited with this unit standard are able to input and retrieve administrative information efficiently and effectively in a public sector context.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Preparing data for computer data entry or retrieval.
  • Entering data using a computer software program.
  • Retrieving data using a computer software program.
  • Completing data capture/retrieval.

    Use of structured codes for entry and retrieval of data is recognised in relation to the nature of data output required.

    Structured codes include, but are not limited to, identity, driver's license or passport numbers, credit card numbers, customer account numbers, employee number.

    Data preparation procedures are consistent with the entry and retrieval system used and the data output required.

    Preparation procedures include, but are not limited to, batching, checking methods of data entry, validating data types for entry or retrieval.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Accreditation for this Unit Standard shall be obtained from the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance Body, through summative and formative assessment by a registered assessor.
  • Assessors must be registered as an Assessor with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderators must be registered as assessors with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Agreement with the relevant ETQA.
  • Training providers must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.

    Moderation should include both internal and external moderation where applicable.
