PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons working in the International trade environment especially within exports. The learner is able to process export enquiry and orders.

A person credited with this unit standard is able to:
  • Examine an export enquiry and determine whether or not it contains all the essential elements, and to rectify any omissions.
  • Produce a quotation/pro-forma invoice which contains all the terms and conditions required by the company, and is presented in conformance with international standards.
  • Ensure that orders received match up with quotations/pro-forma invoices.
  • Process an order, taking all relevant considerations into account and using policies and procedures.

    This unit standard will contribute to the full development of any learner to increasing levels of efficiency and effectiveness in the International trade environment by providing recognition, further mobility and transportability within the field as well as within other fields. The knowledge, skills and understanding demonstrated in this unit standard are essential for social and economic transformation and upliftment within the International Trade environment.

    This unit standard is intended for learners who are engaged in international trade activities and who are required to process export enquiry and orders. The learner who has acquired this unit standard is generally required to work under minimum supervision.

    Examine an export enquiry to determine whether or not it contains all the essential elements, and rectify any omissions.

    The manufacturer's capability to fulfil the order is verified and confirmed according to different export enquiries.

    Customer requirements are determined according to the company export policies and procedures.

    The essential elements of an export enquiry are explained as it relates to specific export transactions. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The export enquiry is evaluated to ensure it contains all the essential elements according to organisational policies and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The manufacturer's capacity to deliver is verified and confirmed according to the export enquiry. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Produce a quotation/pro-forma invoice which contains all the terms and conditions required by the company.

    The different components of a quotation/pro-forma invoice are identified and explained using different export transactions.

    The quotation/pro-forma invoice is produced according to the terms and conditions required by the company and customer requirements.

    An order is received from the customer according to quotations and pro-forma invoices.

    Order is verified according to quotation/pro-forma invoice.

    Discrepancies are identified and corrected according to organisational policies and procedures.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • The assessment will be governed by the policies and guidelines of the relevant Education and Training Quality Assuror (ETQA) that has jurisdiction over this field of learning.
  • The assessor will (at the very least) be accredited and have a relevant qualification and/or be a subject matter expert in this learning area and have at least three (3) years experience in the skills specific area.

    The learner can be assessed against this unit standard to obtain credits or as part of an integrated assessment for a qualification.
