PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to organise the movement of for dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes. They are able to arrange and complete relevant documentation required for the movement of the dangerous and harmful goods and organise and book the storage of the goods. They are also able to arrange the transportation of the goods with the relevant documentation required.

A person credited with this unit standard is capable of:
  • Arranging relevant documentation relating to the movement of dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes.
  • Organising the booking of storage for dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes.
  • Arranging the carriage of dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes according to the relevant classification and documentation. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 4 or equivalent.

    The documents needed for the movement of dangerous goods are listed as per international codes and guidelines.

    The primary requirements of a transport document for dangerous goods are explained and described as per international codes and guidelines. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The duties and information required from the consignee and consignor in the provision of relevant documentation are explained and described as required by international codes and guidelines. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The information required on the dangerous goods transport document is explained, described and applied as required by international codes and guidelines. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Organise the booking of storage for dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes.

    A suitable storage facility is selected according to classification of dangerous, hazardous and harmful cargoes.

    Appropriate arrangements are made by applicable communication medium within the time limits, as is applicable to the industry.
