PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons working in the International trade environment especially within exports. The learner is able to achieve export objectives through improved productivity.

A person credited with this unit standard is able to:
  • Participate in production planning in order to ensure that the export market demands can be met.
  • Develop production alternatives to optimise the satisfaction of export market demands.
  • Evaluate technology transfer as an option to local product manufacture and export.
  • Analyse how local resources can be beneficiated to optimise export productivity.
  • Ensure that specific export product quality is controlled.

    Participate in production planning in order to ensure that the export market demands can be met.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The export sales plan is used as an input to production planning as it relates to specific markets, products and/or services. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Production alternatives are developed with the assistance of the production manager to optimise the satisfaction of export market demands as it relates to specific markets, products and/or services. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Participate in the evaluation of technology transfer as an option to local product manufacture and export. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The relative costs of manufacturing domestically and exporting as opposed to transferring technology to the export market and manufacturing externally are evaluated as they relate to different export products. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The impact of manufacturing domestically and exporting as opposed to transferring technology to the export market and manufacturing externally is assessed against the company's export strategy. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Participation in processes aimed at reviewing export strategy in light of the feasibility studies is carried out as it relates to different export products. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Analyse how local resources can be beneficiated or outsourced to optimise export productivity.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The export product range of the organisation is analysed to determine the degree of beneficiation as they relate to different export products. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The costs of further beneficiation domestically as an outsourced process are compared to those of beneficiating in-house as they relate to different export products. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The resources required to beneficiate domestically are evaluated as they relate to different export products. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Processes aimed at reviewing export strategy in light of the feasibility studies are participated in as they relate to different export products

    Ensure that specific export product quality is controlled.

    Processes and procedures are put in place to control the quality of export raw materials as they relate to different export products.

    Processes and procedures are put in place to control the quality of production of export products as it relates to different export products. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Processes and procedures are put in place to control the quality of packing, packaging, marking and labelling of export products as it relates to different export products. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Quality control requirements of the export markets as they relate to different export products are applied to ensure conformity.
