PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to integrate knowledge and understanding of prefabricated aluminium scaffolding and related applications with skills for monitoring, organising, inspecting and controlling a range of activities associated with the erection, moving and dismantling of prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding.

The competencies extend beyond just the completion of tasks and contribute towards the development of effective supervisory skills to ensure all work is carried out in accordance with legislation and regulations pertaining to prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding and working at height.

    Relevant sections contained in the South African National Standards or any amendments are described associated with the erection and dismantling of prefabricated aluminium scaffolding. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Safe working loads of prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding and its application is worked out and an indication given of the limitations associated with it. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Stability requirements for the prevention of overturning of prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding are identified in terms of job specifications and requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Relevant documentation is identified, completed and filed according to worksite requirements.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The setting out of the prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding position is monitored and compliance is adhered to in terms of job specifications and requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The erection operation of prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding is monitored according to site requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Excess prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding and components are removed from the site in accordance with safe work procedures. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 5 
    Control the moving and repositioning of the prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    New position of prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding is established and checked for conformity with job specifications and safety issues.

    All hazards relating to the relocation work is identified and safety measures taken in line with the contractor's health and safety plan. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Dismantling of prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffoldings in its existing position is undertaken in line with job specifications and safety procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The relocated prefabricated aluminium alloy scaffolding is inspected, the results recorded and its safe operation confirmed in accordance with job specifications and requirements.
