PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Qualifying learners are capable of conducting site specific planning to achieve efficient installation of ceilings and partitioning, which will contribute towards the overall efficiency of their employer organisations, ensure that breakages and stoppages are kept to a minimum and that equipment is used in accordance with best practice/safe work principles.

This competence capacitates learners to:
  • Establish the site pre-requisites.
  • Plan various resource requirements (labour, material, tools and equipment) including Health and Safety aspects.
  • Survey the site.
  • Interpret relevant drawings.
  • Consider environmental factors.

    The competence acquired by qualifying learners will advance their personal expertise and employability in the construction sector and related fields, for example, interior design and refurbishment.

    The range of hand tools includes mitre box, measure tape, laser measure and -level, spirit level, aviation cutter, wood planer, chisel, files, scaffolding, ladders, square, chalk line, builders line, pencil, pliers, bolt cutter, pop riveter, trowel, silicone guns, scraper, hacksaw, Tenon-, polystyrene mitre- and crosscut saw, crimping tools, stilts, hammer, vice grip, craft knife, tin snips, buckets and mixers, 150mm taping knife and screwdrivers.
