    The role that protocols play in securing international exports and the importance that adherence to the provisions of these agreements has on sustaining trade relations, is explained.

    The importance of the EU 1148 standards is explained and the proportion of SA's exports that must comply to these standards is indicated. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The role that bi-lateral agreements play in facilitating inter-country exports and the positive impact these agreements have on SA's exports are detailed. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    The variability of the phytosanitary requirements that are set by different regions and countries, and the impact that this has on the production, post harvest treatment and inspection of produce is related. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 7 
    The necessity of all fish and meat exports to comply with the international accord, Codex Alimentarius, is explained.

    The importance of obtaining registration and certification with international chain stores, to access this sector of the export market is explained.
