PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard is intended for learners who will be required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of elementary principles of identification of ignitable propellants from a scene of a fire for court purposes and investigative purposes.
On completion of this unit standard the learner will have knowledge about identifying the origin of fire and how to conclude on a probable cause of fire during a forensic science investigation. Learners will have an understanding of the elementary concepts of fire scene evaluation and investigation and the types of evidence collected and preserved in order to identify the cause of a fire. They will also understand the elementary chemical principles of fire to understand the types of examinations and analysis performed in order to determine the identification of flammable residues. A person credited with this unit standard will be able to: |
