PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for anyone who works in a fish or seafood processing environment and has to receive and maintain fish or seafood in cold storage containers during any stage of handling and processing (stocker ponds or chill tanks or "laaitjies" or holds or bins or tubs) prior to further processing.

A person credited with this unit standard is able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of receiving and maintaining of fish or seafood in cold storage containers.
  • Prepare to receive fish or seafood in cold storage containers.
  • Receive fish or seafood in cold storage containers.
  • Maintain fish or seafood in cold storage containers.

  • Fish refers to the following types:
