PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for learners seeking to enter the Real Estate profession or someone already in the Real Estate profession wishing to enhance his/her competences. This unit standard enables a learner to identify own development opportunities and constraints within Real Estate work context and how best to manage career and job growth in the Real Estate sector.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Describing and applying self management skills in a Real Estate environment.
  • Developing an action plan for own personal development within the Real Estate Environment.
  • Describing career development opportunities within Real Estate and defining own career development plan.
  • Identifying the various trends in Real Estate career development and how these impact on own development plan.

    The purpose and principles of self-management are discussed in relation to the Real Estate function. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The purpose and process for scheduling activities in a Real Estate context are explained with examples in relation to setting targets and goals. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Scheduling activities within the Real Estate context relate to projection of sales and income, economic and property trends and developments, own capacity and resources, entrepreneurial profile.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Own time management tools/methods are identified and aligned to work schedule to ensure productive use of time.

    Typical constraints to self-management within Real Estate context are discussed with examples.

    The various bodies, institutions and structures that affect career development and self-development planning within Real Estate are identified and discussed in relation to their overall roles and functions. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Various bodies, institutions and structures include but are not limited to the Estate Agents Affairs Board, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), tertiary institutions, national standards of competence.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Ways in which the various bodies, institutions and structures can be tapped to maximise own career development plan are identified and actioned in order to achieve targets and goals. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The qualifications and unit standards that need to be completed in order to obtain the necessary certificates for actioning career goals are identified and described in relation to own work context.

    Any individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
