PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable financial transactions to be processed correctly in a gaming environment. The individual should develop competent usage of the appropriate policy and procedure to improve performance. The sub-field should develop a standard approach to dealing with the processing of financial transactions.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Complete financial transactions.
  • Explain and apply the reserve bank rules on foreign currency formalities.
  • Accept counts for verification.
  • Complete relevant paperwork.

    On completion of this unit standard the learner should be ready to develop learning in more complex areas related to processing financial transactions.

    The typical scope and context of this unit standard is the administration of policy and procedure related to processing financial transactions within a casino environment. 

    Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria: 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Complete financial transactions. 
    OUTCOME RANGE 
    Includes but is not limited to completion of deposit slips, use of deposit stationery, issuing of winners cheques, receipts, disbursements, processing credit notes, cash banking, bank instrument banking, banking of foreign exchange, accepting the hard count, accepting the soft count, accepting the bill count, time date stamping.

    Gaming Board regulations and company procedures are stated for processing the range of financial transactions. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The importance of all cashiering staff understanding how to complete the range of financial transactions is stressed for clarity. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Issues requiring confidentiality are described in order to protect business interests. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The importance of maintaining confidentiality is highlighted in displaying proper business ethics. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Explain and apply the reserve bank rules on foreign currency formalities.
