PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for learners working at a supervisory level within the surveillance arena of a casino. Its key areas are supervising staff duties, ensuring that operations are performed smoothly without disturbance to customers and that any malfunctions of equipment or irregularities are dealt with expeditiously. The sub-field will benefit by minimising losses within the casino due to irregular activities.

The learner will additionally develop essential skills for management at a higher level.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of internal and external legislation pertaining to surveillance requirements.
  • Carry out shift supervisory duties within a surveillance room.
  • Investigate irregular activities.
  • Adhere to logistical requirements within the surveillance room.
  • Compile shift and daily reports.
  • Conduct quality control checks.

    On completion of this unit standard the learner should be ready to develop learning in further, more complex processes related to activities within surveillance room.

    Technical faults are referred to appropriate technicians for correction.
