PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The qualifying learner achieving this unit standard will be able to guide role players and stakeholders towards the establishment and maintenance of sustainable organisational structures for sport. The learner will be able to relate to the different needs and sentiments of a specific community as it relates to sport.

Competent qualifying learners in sport or fitness will provide safe, quality and positive experiences to participants and volunteer and thus strengthen the sport profession in general.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:
  • Plan and facilitate for the establishment of structures.
  • Promote the benefits and values of sport.
  • Compile a participation profile.
  • Facilitate the establishment of committees and/or clubs.

    In addition the learner will be well positioned to extend their learning and practice into other areas of sport leadership or management, or to strive towards sport management standards and practice at higher levels that lead to provincial and or national levels of the organisation.
