PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard will be able to allocate resources for handling responses, design response devices, and establish coding criteria used for tracking and measuring responses. Also, he/she will be able to describe and plan the data-capture process.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Allocating resources for response-handling.
  • Designing response devices.
  • Applying coding criteria relevant to required measurement.
  • Planning response data-capture processes. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Response types will include:
  • Direct sales.
  • Lead generation.
  • Traffic generation to retail and/or wholesale outlets.

    The appropriate range of media through which responses will be generated are identified according to the direct marketing campaign plan. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Resources meet the overall budget and resource allocations in the campaign plan. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Resources allocated are sufficient to handle the expected responses. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Basic methods for ensuring efficient response-handling capacity are applied and are appropriate to the given direct marketing campaign.

    The appropriate response types are selected for the given direct marketing campaign.

    Existing customer information is drawn from the organisation's database and used on the device to increase ease of use by the target market.

    The response device ensures efficient capture of data through its logical and coherent design.
