PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to apply a knowledge and understanding of the principles, processes and procedures used in forwarding to evaluate alternative information systems, initiate their installation and effectively operate them. This Unit Standard is for people who are, or who wish to be employed in the assessment, installation and administration of electronic information systems in forwarding, clearing, international trading and international financing organisations.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Evaluating software packages in order to make recommendations.
  • Assessing alternative information systems in terms of their compatibility with the company's current needs and usage, and anticipated future needs.
  • Analysing the capabilities of software suppliers.
  • Researching future Information Technology (IT) trends in the forwarding and supply chain management environments to recommend performance enhancing tools.
