PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to assist the learner in dealing with the outcomes of contracts in a sophisticated working environment that requires strict adherence to terms, rules and regulations. The learner will understand the skills, values and knowledge required to manage the process of engaging and overseeing contractors within their limits of authority.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Demonstrating an understanding of contract requirements.
  • Verifying that plant and safety inductions have been completed.
  • Monitoring the work and safety practices of contractors and provide feedback.
  • Resolving issues of non-compliance and poor performance by the contractors.
  • Compiling progress reports and verifying completion of contract.

    Learners accessing this unit standard will be assumed competent in:

    Checks are carried out throughout the contract to ensure that health and safety procedures are applied by all contractors on site.

    Availability and visibility of first aid materials, equipment and tools are maintained throughout the contract.

    Unsafe working practices are dealt with in accordance with legislation and organisational procedures.

    Resolve issues of non-compliance and poor performance by the contractors.
