PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard enables health workers to develop and maintain a community based rehabilitation programme.
It includes supporting and assisting workers implementing rehabilitation to carry out their programmes effectively and efficiently and to provide or obtain assistance when necessary. The qualifying learner is capable of: |

This unit standard includes but is not limited to knowledge pertaining to the different types of disabling conditions and the relevant intervention for each, how to identify people with a disability in the community, how to maintain adequate records and compile reports, run learning groups and provide assistance to workers delivering rehabilitation. |

Assistance is provided in planning and implementing disability surveys carried out by those involved in rehabilitation. |

Information from disability surveys is collected and collated in order to compile a register of persons with a disability in the area. |

Assistance is provided in establishing a work schedule detailing the provision of a service to the identified people. |
