PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard will be useful to people who are required to produce jewellery using the cuttlebone casting process.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Create the mould cavity.
  • Do the cast.
  • Finish off casting.

    Tools, material and equipment are ensured to be ready for use in terms of specified requirements.

    The correct molding method is selected according to industry standards.

    The cavity is created according to casting standards.

    The pouring gate and vents are made to ensure proper flow of the metal in line with casting quality standards.

    The metal is melted and poured to ensure optimum filling of the mould in line with casting quality standards.
