This unit standard will be useful to people who are required to manufacture a pendant using jewellery-piercing techniques.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • Polish the pendant.

    This unit standard replaces unit standard 15266, "Fabricate non-ferrous and precious metal jewellery using hand-held tools and equipment", Level 2, 8 credits.

    Terminology:
  • Non-Ferrous metal refers to all non precious metals that do not contain iron.
  • Precious metal refers to silver, gold and platinum.
  • Pierce refers to removing metal with a jewellers saw frame.
  • Draw refers to elongating and compressing a metal rod by pulling it through a draw plate.
  • Drawplate refers to a steel plate with graded tapering holes used to draw wire.
