This unit standard focuses on the use of animals in entertainment, exhibition, sport and security and other associated practices in our society.

These practices are for a variety of essential and non-essential purposes and learners credited with this standard will be able to:
  • Identify the different species and breeds of animal used.
  • Identify the purpose for the use of animals in entertainment, exhibition, sport and security.
  • Identify applicable codes of practice and other legislation.

  • Assessors and moderators must be registered with the relevant accredited ETQA.
  • Assessors should be in possession of a relevant qualification that is at least one level higher than the level of this unit standard or have at least 5 years relevant practical experience.
  • Training providers must be accredited by a relevant ETQA.

    Assessment should include both formative and summative assessment.
