PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners who are entering the field of reinforced concrete detailing draughting require this unit standard. This unit standard exposes learners to the basic commands needed to draw a 2D object. Qualifying learners will be able to draw and manipulate basic single component 2D drawing related to concrete reinforcing.

The qualifying learner will be capable of:
  • Understanding reinforced concrete detailing.
  • Produce detailed concrete reinforcing drawings.
  • Compiling drawings to detail and position columns and piles.
  • Compiling detailed floor slab drawing.
  • Producing detailed drawings for staircases.
  • Producing and presenting bending schedules.

    Reinforced concrete terms are identified and explained in terms of the relevant code of practice. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Range of reinforced concrete terms include, but is not limited to:
  • Web, flange, heel, toe, bar marks, upstand and downstand.
     

  • ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Different beam, slab and column configurations are drawn according to standard industry practice. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Reinforcement in tension and compression is explained in terms of the specifications. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Different grades of steel used for reinforcing are explained according to standard industry practice. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The compressive strength of concrete is explained at required period/duration according to standard industry practice.

    Single and multi-flight staircases are detailed according to specifications. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Reinforcing is marked on detailed drawings in relation to staircases. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Minimum riser, maximum tread, width and angle of stringers are calculated according to specifications. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 6 
    Produce and present bending schedules.

    Bars are identified and tabulated according to detail drawings. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Bar lengths are calculated according to specifications.

    Bar bending is detailed and a bending schedule is produced according to specifications. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.
  • External Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA at its discretion.
  • The accredited Training Provider will oversee internal moderation of assessment.
