PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for learners, within the a quality management system, who need to be capacitated in the knowledge and skills required to be proactive and to improve the quality management systems in an organisation by solving problems and dealing with challenges.

Learners credited with this standard will be able to:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Propose solutions to problems and improvement opportunities.
  • Plan and implement solutions and monitor effectivity of results.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Techniques to identify current and potential problems are identified so that the most appropriate one is chosen to address the problem or the opportunity for improvement. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Techniques include but are not limited to Affinity Diagrams, Relations Diagrams, Tree Diagrams, Matrix Diagrams, Arrow Diagrams, Process decision Program Charts and Matrix Data Analysis.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The cost of quality is determined through consultation and the use of models. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Models refers but is not limited to the Prevention Appraisal and Failure Model, Process cost model like price of conformance(PoC) and price of non-conformance (PoNC).
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Alternative solutions to identified opportunities are developed to ensure criteria compliance.

    Acceptance criteria are applied and the most appropriate alternative is selected.
