PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard reflects the skills, values and knowledge required by people in the sub-field of Forestry and/or wood technology who must be able to control the basic maintenance and lubrication programme in a Lumber Mill.

People credited with this Unit Standard are able to:
  • Demonstrate understanding of purpose and how to control basic maintenance and lubrication programme.
  • Demonstrate understanding of functions, purpose and methods of application of the basic maintenance.
  • Control storage facilities and keep inventory of basic maintenance and lubrication equipment and materials.
  • Oversee the basic maintenance and lubrication of the equipment in the relevant workplace.
