    The different types of managers are described in terms of their positioning within an enterprise.

    The management structures that pertain to an organisation are described with reference to their responsibilities. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The activities of a manager are listed for the purpose of ensuring an appreciation of the wide range of tasks that are included in a manager's responsibility.

    The different styles of management are listed and the main characteristics of each are described in terms of the effect each may have on the climate and culture in an organisation.

    The principles of planning that a manager has to utilise to achieve the required objectives, are listed and the manner in which these are applied, is demonstrated in accordance with the company's procedures.

    The principles of organising that a manager has to utilise to achieve the required objectives are listed and the manner in which these are applied, is demonstrated in accordance with the company's procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The principles of leading that a manager has to utilise to achieve the required objectives, are listed and the manner in which these are applied, is demonstrated in accordance with the company's SOPs.

    The principles of control that a manager has to utilise to achieve the required objectives are listed and the manner in which these are applied, is demonstrated in accordance with the company's procedures.

    The administrative tasks that must be performed, are listed and the manner in which these should be achieved is demonstrated in accordance with the company's procedures.

    The management of personnel matters is described with reference to the basic legislative requirements and the manner in which these are conducted, is demonstrated in accordance with the company's procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The concept of ethics is defined in terms of the responsibility a management delegate has in judging the fairness and consequences of every decision. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The steps in the ethical decision-making process are listed for the purpose of ensuring that the ethical considerations take priority in such a decision-making process.

    Describe the role of a supervisor and the challenges that this position holds.

    The concept of the position "supervisor" is defined in terms of the generally accepted principles. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The role that the supervisor plays in the business is explained in terms of the company's organisational structure. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The functions and responsibilities of a supervisor are described in accordance with the company's procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The challenges that a supervisor faces are listed, for the purpose of ensuring that no false expectations are created for appointees to hold a first-line management position. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • Anyone assessing a learner or moderating the assessment of a learner against the qualification must be registered as an assessor with the relevant Education, Training, Quality, Assurance (ETQA) Body, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
