PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This unit standard is aimed at individuals envisaging operating as an entry-level race official (referee) for triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, other multi-discipline or off-road versions of the sport. Technical practices as it relates to this unit standard aims to generate interest and to encourage new entrance in order to address broad based triathlon competency in the community.
The qualifying learner will be able to explain the basic components of swimming, cycling and running, showing understanding of the principles of the sporting codes making up triathlon. Learners will be able to demonstrate the skills and techniques required for the TSA NQF Level 1 category of refereeing triathlon, duathlon and aquathlon. On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be competent in: On completion of this unit standard the learner should be ready to develop learning in further, more complex processes related to the coaching of triathlon. |
