PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for learners who participate as officials to officiate and control sporting activities and the players where the acquisition of competence against this unit standard will add value to one's job and capabilities and an insight into the laws of the game and the mechanics of officiating a sport activity.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Planning and preparing activities for a match, game or competition.
  • Communicating effectively as a technical officiator in the sport specific context.
  • Ensuring fairness and integrity in a specific sporting context.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of competition formats and the technical officiators roles.

    Planning and preparation for competition activities is conducted to achieve the goal of the game/competition.

    Discipline/sport applicable planning documents are provided to indicate planning and preparation of technical officiating.

    Appropriate reports are compiled and completed in accordance with federations requirements.

    Planning and preparation refers to activities to be conducted before, during and after the game/competition.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed against this unit standard for the purposes of achieving credits, including through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution recognised for assessment purposes by the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA), or one with an appropriate Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
