PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The purpose of this unit standard is for learners to be able to produce dry-point prints. Dry-point methods and techniques provide learners with a basis both for the development of more advanced intaglio printmaking methods (etching, engraving, aqua tint and mezzo tint), as well as a set of methods that they can apply to the production of marketable fine art prints.
Visual artists equipped with this competence will be able to contribute to the development of a professional culture of printmaking within the visual arts, and produce artwork, which is underpinned by a comprehensive understanding, and confident application of the tools, materials and equipment associated with dry-point printmaking methods. Credited learners are capable of: |
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
Learners are assumed to be competent in:
> Produce artworks using basic printmaking principles, processes and methods, at NQF Level 3. |
