PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
Wellness is a condition of satisfactory balance between the physical, emotional/mental and spiritual parts of the individual human being. Individuals each have an own wellness continuum that fluctuates between ill and well, but each should aim to remain on the well side of the continuum. Thus even those with chronic illnesses such as Diabetes Mellitus or Cardiac illness may achieve wellness in terms of their personal continuum, once their rehabilitation programme has been personally accepted. This applies to all conditions even to those with paralysis or absence of limbs. This unit standard enables the learner to plan a wellness awareness programme for implementation in the workplace. It will be useful for people entering or wanting to enter into a career in wellness or who currently occupy positions where they have acquired the wellness portfolio within their scope of work.
