PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for learners who are performing maintenance and repair tasks on ammunition in an explosive workplace. Learners assessed against this unit standard will possess the knowledge and skills required to safely perform workshop practices while maintaining or repairing ammunition. This unit standard will contribute towards compliance with legal, safety and organisational requirements related to the maintenance and repair of ammunition and explosives.

    The threat posed by radio frequency hazards is described with examples to prevent accidental initiation of explosives. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The control of ammunition processing is demonstrated during a simulated scenario in accordance with organisational policy prescripts. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The handling of white phosphorus or phosphates is demonstrated during a simulated scenario as described in organisational policy prescripts. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Ammunition clips and cartridges are handled in a simulated scenario in accordance with organisational policy.

    Install and use workshop equipment in an Ammunition Process Building.

    Authorisation for the use of equipment is described and obtained in accordance with standard operating procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Equipment is set-up, maintained and used in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and standard operating procedures. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Equipment may include but is not limited to Pneumatic (Air), Electrical, Electronic, Motorised, Manual and Gas.

    Fault finding procedures are carried out on equipment according to standard operating procedures.

    The safety measures for equipment are implemented in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and standard operating procedures.

    Material and freight handling equipment is operated in accordance with licensing and standard operating procedures.
