UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
The scope of this unit standard deals with Acetylene and L.P. gas, mild and low carbon steels in the context of a workshop environment.
Metals to be welded include but are not limited to: Mild and low carbon steels. Main application of gas welding at this level includes: Welding of scrap metals, welding to marks on plates, pipes, sections andtrimming panels. Defect and hazards to be identified include but are not limited to: Poor connections, damaged hoses, incorrect handling and storage of cylinders, faulty equipment, leaking gauges and flashback arrestors. The specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard are performed without direct supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions. Quality procedures include but are not limited to: I.S.O. 9000 |
