PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for personnel employed in the insurance sector and other learners who intend to follow a career in insurance. The focus is knowledge, skills, values and attitudes required to process information using a database in an insurance environment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and accessing a database.
  • Processing and checking numerical data and text for input into the database.
  • Saving and storing information accurately using a computer keyboard and a range of familiar procedures. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    There is open access to this unit standard. Learners should
  • Hold a GETC or equivalent qualification. Or
  • Be competent in communication and mathematical literacy at NQF level1. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The typical scope of this unit standard is the use of a Windows driven database customised and developed to meet the needs of a specific organisation or any other custom built insurance computer system.
