| ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA |
| Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcomes:
The Associated Assessment Criteria will be used across the Exit Level Outcomes in an integrated manner. 1. Public sector problems are solved in a systematic and creative way through problem identification and analysis. 2. Resources and processes in a public context is managed, demonstrating sound understanding. 3. Own ideas and interests are articulated and promoted via effective oral and written communications. 4. The contribution to Government by sound policy developing competencies are demonstrated by producing sample policies. Integrated Assessment: The University adopted a Continuous and Final Assessment System which consists of number assessment events throughout the year and a variety of assessment instruments are used (for example, tests, essays, practical reports, project reports and oral presentations) followed by a final assessment or final assessment task). Assessment takes place according to strict assessment criteria as outlined in the prescribed module descriptor. Lecturers in the Information systems department set assignments, class tests and the final assessment papers in terms of module outcomes viz. Adequate level of relevant text comprehension to be demonstrated, adequate range of relevant sources to have been accessed and relevant problems to have been grasped, and appropriate theoretical and practical and clinical assignments and case studies as well as solutions to problems to have been presented. This ensures that assessments maintain a certain standard in accordance with the standards as set out in the syllabus. The research report topic is selected between the student and the supervisor appointed by the Head of the Department. For most of the modules presented by the Department, evaluation of the student's academic progress takes place on a continuous basis by means of assignments, tests and/or design tasks as specified in the module guide. All final assessment papers undergraduate up to Masters Level (Research project at Honours level) are moderated both internally and externally to ensure that quality is maintained and that learning outcomes are appropriately tested. Tot effect, the following procedures are applied. The Faculty has adopted a Continuous Assessment System. Assessment consists of a number of assessment events administered throughout the year and a variety of assessment instruments are used (for example: tests, essays and practical reports, project reports). |
