PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
A learner accredited with this qualification will be able to operate, with guidance, as a junior reporter for a mass communication medium 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Upon entry to the Certificate programme, it is assumed that learners should have demonstrated:
  • The ability to express themselves clearly and correctly both orally and in writing in English and another language (NQF 4)
  • The ability to apply numeric skills, including basic arithmetic (add, subtract, divide, multiply) at least NQF 2
  • A basic awareness of the nature and role of mass communication media

    Through successful completion of a:
  • Senior Certificate or equivalent

    Recognition of prior learning:
    This qualification may be achieved in whole or in part through the recognition of prior learning

    QUALIFICATION RULES 
    The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes 

    EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES

    The learner's ability to integrate the elements of the programme is assessed through case studies, projects, reports, portfolios and tests 

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    The learners will obtain credits that enable them to exit at a FE&T national certificate level and continue to a NQF 5 national certificate 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Moderators should have at least an appropriate M+3 qualification or equivalent and relevant experience
