PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The purpose of this qualification is:

To provide students with a broad knowledge in one or more fields of study in the military sciences.

To ensure a wide enough exposure to the world of knowledge to place new information in context and to make informed choices for further study and the preparation for a career.

To offer specialised study in the final year to provide the necessary basis for students who would like to proceed to postgraduate study. Possible specialisations are:
  • Human and Organisational Development
  • Organisational and Resource Management
  • Technology and Defence Management
  • Technology
  • Security and Africa Studies

    To ensure sufficient numbers of well trained students to provide in the urgent need of graduated officers for the SANDF.

    To provide students not proceeding with further study with a well rounded and comprehensive education that will enable them to function successfully in the SANDF as officers.

    INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT


    Integrated assessment takes place in terms of a variety of procedures, such as class discussions, assignments, tutorials, simulations, work assessment, practical sessions, case studies, presentations, written examinations and oral examinations.

    The university of Stellenbosch has a system of internal moderation of exam papers and an external peer review and evaluation of departments. 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    The academic staff of the Faculty of Military Science and of other relevant faculties of the university of Stellenbosch will be used in a manner that fits into the quality assurance system of the university.
