PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
The qualified learner can with knowledge and competencies carry out the functions and duties of a health and community carer (child care, care of the aged and care of the handicapped) at Level 4. |
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
Learners who register for the qualification should have fulfilled all the existing requirements of the previous level.
Recognition of prior learning: RPL will be recognised through a process of assessment of previously obtained skills and knowledge. |

MODERATION OPTIONS |
A system of second examiners within the institution will be used, together with a system of external examination conducted nationally at the exit levels to the qualification. Where professional or statutory bodies are involved in determining the curriculum, they will also be involved in moderation. |
CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS |
Our own staff will be used as assessors in a manner accommodated within the quality management system of the institution. This would apply to outside assessors also in institutions for care of the aged, care of the handicapped and child care using the national examination criteria. |
