|PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION|
|To provide the learner with the necessary technological, numerical and communication skills, knowledge, experience and attitudes required to perform the tasks related to a FET Certificate in Business Studies for individual and social transformation.|
|LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING|
|Learners who register for this qualification can apply the basic social, communication, literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills comparative with those gained at NQF Level 3.|
|RECOGNISE PREVIOUS LEARNING?|
|The learner must obtain a pass in five (5) instructional offerings including the two (2) languages, having received instruction in the sixth instructional offering and failed.
One (1) of the Languages must be at first Language level, while the other must be at first or second language level.
Has passed one (1) Business language, one (1) Grade 12 language and the relevant N3 instructional offerings.

Integrated assessment to ensure that the purpose of qualification is achieved:
1. Continuous assessment is done in order to compile a year-mark for the learner.
2. Summative assessment is conducted through a National Examination.
3. Formative and summative assessment are integrated to provide a coherent indication of learner ability.

2. Qualifying learners will be able to enrol for a National Certificate N4: Business Studies (Management Assistant}(Marketing Management}and (Human Resource Management), (Financial Management) and (Business Management).

|Moderators are appointed by the National Department for Examinations and Assessment (for each instructional offering) to ensure standards.|
|CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS|
|The staff of the relevant Service Provider will be used as assessors in a manner accommodated within the quality management system of the relevant Institution. The relevant staff must be registered with the South African Council of Educators (SACE) and the relevant legislation as laid down in the Personnel Administrative Measures Document (PAM) must be adhered to.|
